Valorant betting: how the game works
Valorant betting means wagering on professional matches of the 5v5 tactical shooter developed by Riot Games. On every map the attacking and defending sides swap after 12 rounds, and 13 rounds are needed to win. At 12:12 overtime begins, and a team has to win by two rounds.
The key difference from CS2 is agents. Every player picks an agent with unique abilities: duelist, controller, initiator or sentinel. That means strategy depends not only on guns and economy but also on how those abilities combine.
Maps and the veto
Valorant also uses an active map pool (usually seven maps), which Riot rotates from time to time. Before the match, teams take turns banning and picking maps. Each map has its own character: some favour the defending side, while on others attacking is easier.

The agent meta
Riot regularly buffs or nerfs agents and adds new ones. After a patch, some compositions get much stronger overnight. Teams that adapt to the meta quickly often post good results while the odds still reflect the old balance of power. On the other hand, a team heavily built around one player or one agent can weaken after a patch.
When analysing the meta, look at: which agents are picked most in pro matches, how effective the team's duelist is under the new conditions, and how stable the controller and initiator roles are.
Popular Valorant betting markets
- Match winner — the simplest market; in a BO3 the stronger team's edge shows up more clearly.
- Map winner — the most interesting option once the veto is out.
- Map handicap — for example the favourite at -1.5, i.e. a 2:0 win.
- Round handicap and total — based on rounds on a single map; evenly matched teams often produce high round totals.
- Pistol round — rounds 1 and 13; the outcome is very luck-driven, so keep stakes small.

The Valorant Champions Tour is made up of regional leagues, international Masters events and Champions at the end of the season. A quick plan for analysing a Valorant match
- Check each team's results over the last month or two on VLR.gg and factor in the strength of their opponents.
- Study their veto history: which map they almost always ban and which one they pick.
- Compare attack-side and defence-side round win rates on each map.
- Check for changes to the roster and the IGL (in-game leader) — tactical leadership is crucial in Valorant.
- Read the patch notes: if a team's core agents have been nerfed, that is a serious signal.
Also bear in mind that the round economy in Valorant works a little differently from CS2, and thanks to abilities, surprise wins on "eco" rounds happen fairly often. That is why you should be careful with round totals and round handicaps. Until you have built up experience, it is wise to stay mainly with match winner and map winner markets.
